Zero Corruption Conference, an independent international project focusing on the linkages between corruption and money laundering with global security, environmental, energy, and public health issues, has been announced in Kyiv.
Organizers – Anticorruption Action Centre and its partners New Europe Center, Regional Advocacy Center “Life”, Environment People Law, Center for Global Studies “Strategy XXI”, Zentrum Liberale Moderne and Women Veteran Network – presented the project concept to change-makers, diplomats, representatives of international communities organizations and media.
“The Zero Corruption Conference, to be held on April 25-27, 2020, aims to formulate a new regional and global agenda aimed at reaching a Zero Corruption Future. This event will demonstrate that Ukraine is already a laboratory of solutions for that. We want to build an annual international discussion platform in Ukraine, which will address issues of kleptocracy and illicit financial flows,” the organizers of the conference said.
Presentations were made by Darya Kaleniuk, the co-founder and executive director of the AntAC , Hanna Hopko, Zero Corruption Conference chairwoman and former head of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Parliament of Ukraine, Alena Hetmanchuk, director of the New Europe Center, Vitaliy Kasko, First Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Eka Tkeshelashvili, Head of the European Union Anti-Corruption Initiative in Ukraine and Rebecca Harms, member of of European Parliament (2004-2019).
Organizers also shared details of the event. During the first day of the Zero Corruption Conference, change makers with experience in anti-corruption activities from around the world will share reform practices. The second day of the conference, will be devoted to the discussion “Has the Chornobyl Lessons Learned?” at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant. On the third day, the highest level discussions will be held with the participation of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, Prime Minister Olexii Honcharuk and leaders of other states.
