The petition to restore declaration of officials and MPs has collected 25,000 signatures. Now it should be considered by the President

During four days the petition to restore declaration of assets of officials and MPs collected the required 25,000 signatures.

The petition was filed by Oleksiy Hrytsenko, member of the board of Automaidan who is currently serving at the 16th Army Aviation Brigade.

The petition should be considered by the President of Ukraine now.

“After a whole bunch of corruption scandals, we see that there is very clear public demand for officials to submit their declarations for 2021 and 2022. Because people can’t really understand how MPs get mansions in Pechersk and luxury cars from nowhere during the war”, Vitaliy Shabunin, Chairman of the Board at the AntAC comments .

“The availability of declarations will really help the NABU and the SAPO to ensure punishment of those who profit from the war. We hope that fate of this document will not repeat the fate of petition regarding dismissal of pro-Russian judge Bohdan Lvov, after which there has been no active action by the authorities”, he adds.

We should recall that draft law No.8071, which provides for restoration of declaration submission, authored by the head of the faction Servant of the People, Davyd Arakhamia, has been registered in the Verkhovna Rada. Back in October, it was considered by the respective committee, but MPs did not vote for it yet.

These are just few of recent corruption scandals that confirm the need to restore declarations:

  • procurement of food for the Armed Forces of Ukraine at three-times inflated prices;
  • detention of deputy Minister Vasyl Lozynskyi by the NABU for receiving the bribe in the amount of 400,000 USD for facilitating the conclusion of contracts for the purchase of generators and other equipment;
  • purchase of estate by MP Pavlo Khalimon in the center of Kyiv worth tens of millions UAH;
  • discovery of new expensive cars worth several million UAH purchased during the war by seven MPs.

It is important to note that restoration of declarations is one of priorities of the G7 ambassadors for 2023. In addition, this would be important step on Ukraine’s path to the EU, as restoration of declarations would show that our country is strengthening the fight against corruption, which is necessary to fulfill one of the recommendations for candidacy.
