On Wednesday, May 15, at 11:00 a.m. in the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center the NGO Anti-Corruption Action Center and the NGO Declarations under Control will explain why full restart of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention is needed. Activists will present the Blacklist of the NACP. They have collected cases that show ineffectiveness and agency’s dependence on the authorities.
Main tasks of the NACP are to control the submission of declarations by officials and their verification, to monitor their way of life, to examine corruption offenses, to record corruption risks, etc.
The work of agency failed in all areas. And in some areas it was sabotaged.
Instead, first persons of the NACP closed their eyes to flagrant violations, performed political orders, detected violations where they did not exist, or simply assisted corrupt officials with their ambiguous explanations.
Activists collected the most revealing cases where the NACP actually helped corrupt officials to avoid punishment for corruption crimes.
The situation is so neglected that insignificant changes on spots wouldn’t help. And the actual restart of agency is needed.
