Parliamentarians Join Forces in GOPAC to Fight Corruption: Presentation Invite

On June 3 (Monday) at 14:00 in the “Kyiv” hotel (1st floor, “Crystal” hall, Hrushevskoho st. 26/1) a presentation of the Ukrainian Chapter of Global Organization of Parliamentarians Against Corruption will be held. The Chapter united members of parliament representing all factions and taking top positions in principal Verkhovna Rada committees.

Action strategy is presented by the newly elected management of the national chapter of GOPAC:

Viktor Chumak, head of the parliamentary committee for fighting corruption and organized crime;

Lesia Orobets, secretary of the parliamentary committee for foreign affairs;

Mykhaylo Holovko, head of the subcommittee for commercial law affairs at the parliamentary committee for economic policy, deputy head of the committee.

Apart from the representatives of the national charter of GOPAC, it is also planned to give the floor to the representatives of diplomatic institutions, international organizations and projects.

The functions of the national chapter of GOPAC Secretariat is taken over by the  NGO AntAC (Anticorruption Action Centre).

Principal aims of the national chapter of GOPAC include:

  1. Forming an efficient agenda for anticorruption actions in Ukraine, primarily for the work of Verkhovna Rada.
  2. Reinforcing anticorruption actions in Ukraine through applying international political and legal mechanisms. Using international legal instruments and standards (FATF, FCPA, UNCAC and other regulations) for initiating relevant investigations performed by foreign law enforcement and controlling institutions in regard of legal bodies and individuals used for laundering proceeds of corruption obtained in Ukraine.
  3. Improving the capacity in the field of anticorruption actions through professional training offered by the Global Secretariat of GOPAC and consulting with world’s best experts in this field.
  4. Creating a communication platform for affluent members of parliament representing all factions, in order to act against corruption in Ukraine.

Global Organization of Parliamentarians Against Corruption (GOPAC) is an international network of parliamentarians focused on anticorruption actions and setting fair government. The organization was created in 2002. By now the organization unites parliamentarians from more than 50 countries of the world. The effectiveness of the organization is achieved by combining international pressure of the Global Secritariat and effective actions of the national chapters. One of key directions of the activity is increasing the effectiveness of organization members through training, expert and analytical support. Andriy Pyshnyi, first vice-head of the parliamentary committee for parliamentary procedure, deputy ethics and securing Verkhovna Rada work. Member of the of “VO Batkivshchyna” parliamentary faction.

Petro Poroshenko, secretary of the parliamentary committee for European integration. Does not represent any parliamentary faction.

Pavlo Petrenko, secretary of the committee for justice and rule of law. Member of the of “VO Batkivshchyna” parliamentary faction.

Oleh Makhnitskyi, first vice-head of the parliamentary committee for justice and rule of law. Member of the “Vitali Klitschko’s UDAR (Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reforms)” parliamentary faction.

Oleh Osukhovskyi, head of subcommittee for international cooperation related to fighting against organized crime and terrorism, and acting against illegal income laundering at the parliamentary committee for fighting corruption and organized crime. Member of the “VO Svoboda” parliamentary faction.

Oksana Kaletnyk, first vice-head of the parliamentary committee for budget issues. Member of the Komunist Party of Ukraine parliamentary faction.

Ihor Aleksieyev, head of subcommittee for international legal affairs and controlling Ukraine’s execution of international obligations at the parliamentary committee for foreign affairs, first vice-head of the committee. Member of the Member of the Komunist Party of Ukraine parliamentary faction.

Iurii Savchuk, head of subcommittee for fighting terrorism at the parliamentary committee for fighting corruption and organized crime. Member of the “Vitali Klitschko’s UDAR (Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reforms)” parliamentary faction.

Iurii Derevyanko, head of subcommittee for controlling the execution of law related to fighting organized crime and corruption in state bodies and local governments at the parliamentary committee for fighting corruption and organized crime. Does not represent any parliamentary faction.

Anatoliy Hrytsenko, head of subcommittee for acting against illegal income laundering at the parliamentary committee for fighting corruption and organized crime. Member of the of “VO Batkivshchyna” parliamentary faction.

Vitaliy Yarema, vice-head of the parliamentary committee for fighting against corruption and organized crime. Member of the of “VO Batkivshchyna” parliamentary faction.

Valerii Cherniakov, head of subcommittee for cooperation with civil society at the parliamentary committee for fighting corruption and organized crime. Member of the “VO Svoboda” parliamentary faction.
